I made some updates to my website today. It's going to be a work in progress for a while...

I'm also taking nominations for my top 10 photos from 2009, please send me an email if you have a suggestion. I'll make a gallery of the best 15 and then everyone can vote.

Roberta & Bob's 50th Anniversary

There is something so inspiring about a 50th Wedding Anniversary. This past Saturday Roberta and Bob renewed their vows in front of their family and friends 50 years to the day at the same locations that they said "I do" as a young couple in 1960, seven children and a dozen grandchildren later. We started the morning by taking formal family photos in the Fireside Room at Seattle's Sorrento Hotel. This was the most important part of the day for Roberta, who said this photo will be hanging prominently in her living room from now on. The weather on Saturday was mild, so we also took a casual group photo on the rooftop deck of the hotel.

At Seattle University the family celebrated Mass, and Bob and Roberta renewed their vows at the Chapel of St. Ignatius, lead by Bob's brother Father David. Each of the grandkids brought an object that represented a memory of spending time with their grandparents.

Before the Mass, I borrowed the couple to take some quick portraits outside.

Back after lunch at the Sorrento, Roberta had a big surprise for everyone. She was going to make an appearance in her 50-year-old wedding dress. Roberta even cut slits in the arms so it would fit, and held it together the zipper in the back with duct tape. Hilarious!

Congratulations to Bob & Roberta for celebrating 50 years, and a lifetime of building an amazing family.

CDSA photos online

Back in December, I went on a couple of field trips with kids from Community Day School Association to the Children's Museum and ice skating at The Seattle Center.

I shared the photos with the families, and CDSA has now posted a few of the photos on its website.

This is going to be an ongoing partnership that will eventually grow to all nine sites! I'm donating back 60% of the project's profits back to the organization.

Happy New Year!

As you read in my last post, I was really busy during December. I didn't feel like I could Christmas shop until clients had photos, and Sarah and I were pretty late getting our Christmas tree on Dec. 20. (One bonus on that was it was only $10 and it included free delivery!) Last week, I took a few days off during Sarah's vacation and did my best to relax when at home trying to avoid sneaking into my home office to work.

While we were putting on the lights and ornaments before the holidays, Sarah suggested we take a photo in front of the tree with Madison. Although this is our 4th Christmas together, this is our first year with a Christmas tree and we're starting to set our own traditions. As I've mentioned before, I'm not good at being prompt with editing my own family's photos, or more often suffer from not taking any at all. Needless to say, I had sort of forgotten about setting up a tree photo.

On Sunday afternoon, she said it was time. My first question was "do you want a snapshot or a real family photo?" and 15 minutes and two studio lights later, we were ready to shoot.

Here's our 2009 Christmas/New Years photo:

Happy New Year! From Sarah, Heather, Madison and our tree, Gregory Elizabeth.
