Pumpkin Push: Alison & Tami complete a 5K

Last Saturday, my mom and her friend Tami completed their second 5K, at the Pumpkin Push run at Seward Park. I like to compile photos of my family and friends whenever possible, keeping an eye toward finding storytelling moments of their life. This year, I'm working on photos of my mom. :)

Catching up on business

I might be a little quiet on the blog for the next week or so. My next shoot is scheduled for Nov. 7 in Tacoma at the Rainbow Center's 7th Annual Black & White Gayla.

This week I've been catching up on a lot of the behind the scenes business. I've been wearing my accountant hat, meeting with clients, organizing my office, and of course editing pictures.

I met with Tanya last Friday to finalize our contract for next year. Tanya and Tim will be married Sept. 4, 2010 in Poulsbo and it's going to be so much fun working with them again.

I'm going to be updating my website soon. I'm getting famous for saying, "it's on my list!"

Tasha at Lake Meridian Park

All week Tasha and I have been anxiously watching the weather forecast, hoping that we would get a break in the rain for long enough to shoot her senior pictures this weekend. Today we walked around Lake Meridian Park in Covington. This weekend the fall colors are probably at their peak, since we all know it's not long before our Northwest wind and rain leave us with six dark and gray months.

Erin & Alastair's wedding is finally here!

I'm on my way to Leavenworth to shoot Erin and Alastair's wedding Saturday at the Mountain Springs Lodge. I've been looking forward to this wedding for a long time, we took the above engagement photo at the Olympic Sculpture Park on a frigid day in January.

Erin is my sister Jackie's best friend, they were assigned to be roommates their freshman year and lived together all four years. Western has an excellent system for matching roommates!

Alastair is originally from the UK, and is good friends with Erin's sister Laura's husband John. Apparently, Laura has an excellent matching system too. :)

SnoHomo Bingo

On Saturday evening, Sarah and I travelled to Everett for SnoHomo Bingo. The semi-annual event raises money for two great Snohomish County organizations: APSC & GLOBE.

APSC – AIDS Project Snohomish County has provided several fundraising events within Snohomish county, such as the Snohomish County AIDS Walk, Dine In/Art Auction and Act Locally, Act Globally for AIDS. Although these avenues have helped with some fundraising goals, the APSC continues to seek additional support from donors as well as public awareness. APSC is a non-profit 501c3 organization with no paid staff and its Board of Directors is comprised of volunteers.

GLOBE – GLBTQ (gay, lesbian, bi, transgendered & questioning) Loving Ourselves, Becoming Empowered, an organization supporting GLBTQ youth who are 14 to 20 years of age. GLOBE empowers youth to make healthy decisions by enhancing their knowledge, self-esteem and pride. They have a weekly meeting that hosts guest speakers, fun events and opportunities for youth to share in a safe and welcoming place.

I set up a backdrop (Sarah did an awesome job decorating) and my lights and then took photos of everyone dressed up in their Halloween costumes.

Annie and Alex in Seattle

Fall has arrived! I noticed that the light is different now with all the extra clouds and the glow from the changing leaves.

This past Saturday Annie and Alex took some newlywed portraits in Seattle. The pair were recently married at a destination wedding in Guatemala. They took me to Seattle University campus and then we went to Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill.

They came to me as a referral from Carrie after she was sharing some of her wedding photos at work. (Thanks Carrie!)

Moniqa and Rachael's swim meet

Yesterday I attended Moniqa and Rachael's swim meet vs. Tahoma High School. This was another session that goes along with their senior year story. At the end of the year, I'll edit their favorite images into a storytelling album.

Moniqa, Rachael, and their teammates come together in the shallow end of the pool for a cheer before the start of the meet...
